Zarzo technique:
Large round basket course
in raw wicker basketwork

You will learn how to weave the zarzo basket in its round format.

The "zarzo" basketwork technique originates from Spain: it involves clever interlacing in which the strands are alternated.

You will use very long strands of wicker that you will implement in broad and repetitive gestures. The graphic and symmetrical braiding will gradually take shape in a hand-to-hand combat with the wicker: little by little, the intertwined strands will become a basket under your amazed fingers!

> Please note <

> The wicker strands used for this technique are long and strong: this may require some strength in the fingers and hands.

> This technique is ideal for discovering basketwork: pleasure and results guaranteed...

Large flat-bottomed basket course
in raw wicker basketwork

You will learn how to weave the zarzo basket in its rectangular format with a flat bottom.

You will use very long wicker strands that you will use in precise and repetitive movements.

> Please note <

> For this form of zarzo basket you will have to bend the strands without breaking them, which requires a certain precision in the movements.

> The wicker strands used for this technique are long and strong: this may require some strength in the fingers and hands.

Vannerie ajourée 1

Openwork basketwork day 1
Decorative object
Drop on Catalan background

In this course, you will learn openwork basketwork by creating a customizable decorative object.

You start your work with a Catalan-inspired background.

You explore the avenues offered by a volume full of curves and roundness, taking inspiration from the drop and pod motif.

Friday 07/11/2025

(Possibility of combining with the openwork basket course on Saturday 07/12/2025)

Vannerie ajourée 2

Openwork basketwork day 2:
unstructured basket

In this course, you will experiment with openwork basketwork by sculpting an openwork volume that you can shape.

You start your work with a Zarzo-inspired background.

You will experience the "trace" technique, this powerful two-strand braid which holds the uprights together and allows you to sculpt your work, while maintaining the lightness of an airy volume.

> Please note <

The gesture required to make the "trace" is a little technical, which is why this course requires a little experience and/or dexterity.

Saturday 12/07/2025

(Possibility of continuing with the openwork drop course on Friday 07/11/2025)

Wicker tontine course
light fixture or plant stand

To make your wicker tontine, you will set up a dark raw wicker structure on which you will climb a spiral. This work on verticality allows you to create large pieces.

You can use this object however you like: it can become a light fixture, a decorative object for the home, a support for climbing plants...

> Please note: the electrical system is not provided, you can bring the elements you want or install them at the end of the course

Tontine

Decorative suspension stage
in wild basketwork

With wild picking

In this workshop, you will weave a round hanging basket. You will use wicker embellished with stems and vines that you have learned to glean and prepare.

The day begins by weaving the structure of the wicker suspension, then you will discover the art of picking plants along the paths.

You will learn to glean ivy, brambles, wild clematis and other plants that you find along the way...

You'll use them to complete your unique hanging decoration. You can choose to place it in the garden to feed the birds or in your home as a decorative element to add a plant.
